Celebrating Our Team: Honoring Women and Employee Appreciation at Exit 11 Coffee
The month of March is full of celebrations! Before Exit 11, March meant the arrival of warmer weather, the excitement of St. Patrick’s Day, and the first daffodils pushing through after a long winter.
Now, it holds even more meaning—I get to celebrate both National Employee Appreciation Day and Women’s History Month. With 85 employees—71 of them women—our team is the heart of Exit 11 Coffee. Each person plays a crucial role in our success, and I feel privileged to steward this amazing company alongside them.
Investing in Our People
One of the ways we build a strong team is through personality profiling before hiring. Why? Because understanding someone’s strengths helps us manage them better and support their personal and professional growth. It’s one of my greatest joys to watch a young employee grow into who God created them to be, following their heart and dreams—and even better when I get to be part of that journey.
Many of our team members started as part-time employees, then worked their way up into leadership roles. For example:
One former part-time student is now our Regional Manager, overseeing all eight locations and their managers!
Tonya, who joined as a part-time Events Coordinator to promote our coworking center, is now our Vice President, working closely with Scott and me to lead our company into the future.
Vice President, Tonya
“I love being an admin for Exit 11 Coffee because I get to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment where I can support a team passionate about quality coffee and customer satisfaction. It's rewarding to contribute to the smooth operation of a business that brings joy to so many people every day.” - Tonya Meyer.
The Heart of Our Business: Hospitality
We don’t just sell great coffee—we create memorable experiences. And we can only do that because our people love what they do and genuinely enjoy serving others.
Scott and I have always been passionate about coffee, but our real love is hospitality. We started with a coworking center, then opened drive-thru coffee, and a vacation rental—all businesses that allow us to serve people in meaningful ways.
We’re always on the lookout for like-minded, service-oriented people who want to join our team and have a little fun along the way. Below is a picture from our company picnic last October—because at Exit 11, we work hard and play hard!
